Our largest wooden dog kennel is suitable for most large dog breeds, giving them a little home of their own with plenty of space to stand up, turn around and lie down. This wooden kennel has an attractive natural design which will make a lovely addition to any garden or outdoor space. The door is lockable so you can be sure your dog will not get out when you put them inside, and the kennel has a plexiglass window so that your dog can still see what’s going on outside and you can easily check on them.
The materials used in our wooden dog kennels are all high quality and have been treated to ensure they are durable and suitable to be used in all weather conditions throughout each season.
Taking care of your kennel:
We recommend using a high-quality wood preservative, varnish, roof sealer or water repellent. This should be applied within the week of purchase and/or before heavy rain. You should pay particular attention to all of the roof edges, eaves and all joints, as this will prevent the wood from swelling.
It’s important that you clean out the kennel and treat the wood regularly, otherwise it can become brittle and unsightly. We also recommend applying additional coats of wood preserver if the kennel is going to be kept outside. To ensure your kennel continues to look great, we recommend that you position it in a protected area that is not fully exposed to the elements.
Remember to only use non-toxic, animal-friendly cleaning and treatment products.
What kennel size does your dog need?
It’s important to make sure you get a kennel that is suitable for your dog. They need to be able to turn around and stand up, otherwise they’re not going to be comfortable and will not enjoy their time in their little home.
To determine which size kennel you need, you should measure your dog from the top of its head down to the base of its paws, and then add 10cm (that’s the minimum kennel height you will need for your dog), and then measure from the tip of your dog’s nose to halfway down their tail, and also add 10cm (that’s the minimum kennel length you will need for your dog).
By adding 10cm to both your dog’s height and length you can be sure that there will be enough space for your dog to be comfortable.
If you’re buying a kennel for a puppy, it’s a good idea to buy a kennel that will be a suitable size by the time your pup is fully grown. They grow very fast, and while a small kennel would be okay for a puppy, it will outgrow it in a very short space of time.
This medium sized kennel is 82 x 52 x 60cm / 32.2 x 20.4 x 23.6 inches (L x W x H).
