We recommend using a high-quality wood preservative, varnish, roof sealer, or water repellant. This should be applied within the week of purchase and/or before heavy rain. You should pay particular attention to all of the roof edges, eves, and all joints, this will waterproof your kennel and prevent the wood from swelling.
It is important that you clean out the kennel and treat the wood regularly, if this isn’t done, the wood can become brittle and unsightly. To ensure your kennel continues to look great, we recommend that you position it in a protected area which is not fully exposed to the elements.
Remember to only use non-toxic, animal-friendly cleaning and treatment products.
This is our largest wooden dog kennel and it is suitable for most large-sized dog breeds, giving them a safe place to call their own and keep to themselves. There is plenty of room inside this kennel for a large dog to turn around, stand up, and lie down, providing them with the comfort they need. As this is a wooden kennel, it has a natural and attractive look, which wouldn’t be out of place in any garden or outdoor space.
The door is lockable so you know your dog can’t get out and that they are safe and secure. The addition of a perspex window on the door of the kennel allows your dog to keep an eye on whats going outside, and you can see what they are up to. Also the roof has hinges for easy cleaning.
All of the materials used in our wooden dog kennels are high quality and have been treated to ensure maximum durability in all weather conditions, making it ideal for use throughout the seasons.
What size kennel does your dog need? It’s important to make sure you get a kennel which is a suitable size for your dog, they need to be able to turn around and stand up, otherwise they are not going to be comfortable and will not enjoy their time in their little home.
To determine which size kennel you need, you should measure your dog from the top of its head down to the base of their paws, and then add 10cm (that’s the minimum kennel height you will need for your dog) and then measure from the tip of your dogs nose, to halfway down their tail, and then add 10cm (that’s the minimum kennel length you will need for your dog).
By adding 10cm to both your dog’s height and length, you can be sure that there will be enough space for your dog to be comfortable.
If you’re buying a kennel for your puppy, it’s a good idea to buy a kennel which will be a suitable size by the time your pup is fully grown. They grow very fast, and while a small kennel would be ok for a puppy, it will outgrow it in a very short space of time. It’s much better to have a kennel which is too big for your dog, rather than too small.
This large sized kennel is 120cm x 80cm x 85cm (L x W x H).
